MHU is a youth-led initiative working to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote mental well-being across African communities through education, storytelling, and community engagement.
Mental health remains heavily stigmatized and under-resourced in many African contexts. We aim to change this by creating safe spaces, increasing awareness, and improving access to knowledge and support.
We host webinars, community workshops, school sessions, and creative campaigns; including our short film Impostor so as to spark open conversations around mental health and connect people with helpful resources.
MHU is a community-driven initiative operated by a committed team of volunteers and collaborators. We operate transparently and aim to grow into a fully registered nonprofit.
You can get involved by volunteering, partnering with us, donating, or simply sharing our work. Visit our Get Involvedpage or email us directly at m.h.unmasked@gmail.com.
No, you do not need to be a mental health professional to volunteer with Mental Health Unmasked. We welcome anyone passionate about promoting mental health awareness and wellness. Volunteers are provided with training and resources to support our programs safely and effectively.
Mental Health Unmasked supports Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting mental health awareness, providing educational resources, and advocating for accessible mental health support. Our initiatives aim to improve the mental well-being of communities locally and globally.
